Deerfield, Illinois, November 2010- Walgreens, the nation's largest drugstore chain with more than 70,000 health care service providers, will offer free blood glucose and A1C testing at more than 1,700 stores and Take Care Clinics nationwide November 12 and 13, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The free diabetes health testing events, held in conjunction with American Diabetes Month®, are offered at most 24-hour Walgreens stores and Take Care Clinic locations throughout all 50 states and Puerto Rico. www.walgreens.com/diabetes

But thanks to a team of researchers at the University of Texas at Dallas and the University of Texas at Arlington, a novel device called a "brush optrode" is providing increased sensitivity with fiber tips designed to thread through hair to enhance scalp contact. www.osa.org
