WELLNESS & HEALTHY LIVING

Continuing our Wellness Journey - Feeling
Wellness Inventory This week our journey focuses on Feeling, the 6th of 12 keys to wellness in the Wellness Inventory. We experience feelings and emotions from well before the event of our birth. They can be intense, or frightening, or wonderful. They can also be the most misunderstood, and consequently mistreated, gifts we have as human beings. We judge them, repress them, discount them, drug them, worship them, and run from them. Yet, what a bore to be without them! Life fully lived is life filled with feeling!  View more

An Innovative New Approach to Employee Wellness

Wellness Inventory is a "whole person" assessment program designed to help employees gain personal insight into their state of physical, emotional, and spiritual wellness. The program offers guidance and tools to transform this new awareness into lasting changes in their lives, and a renewed sense of health and wellbeing. And best of all, the program can be taken in the comfort of the employee's own home or the office.

Based upon the pioneering work of John W. Travis, MD, MPH, a founder of the modern wellness movement, the Wellness Inventory may be licensed by corporations, hospitals, amd organizations to act as a cornerstone of their employee wellness programs, to increase employee wellbeing and productivity, and to gather valuable data to assist in creating wellness programs targeted to employee needs.

Flaxseeds have more potent medicinal qualities—especially those that fight breast cancer—than any other known edible plant. In "Breast Health Tip #19: Flaxseeds" Christine Horner, M.D., F.A.C.S explains three notable distinctions; First, flax is the richest plant source of omega-3 fatty acids. Second, flax has abundant fiber. Third, flax has at least 100 times more lignans than any other known edible plant. Lignans are natural plant compounds that help to give stiffness to the structure of plants. They also possess extraordinary anticancer properties. View more

Mind Over Matter - "Healing: An Individual Perspective" - Barry Bittman, MD
"Healing" means "to make sound or whole, or to restore to health." It also refers to causing an undesirable condition to be overcome. In the context of mind-body medicine, what affects the mind clearly and indistinguishably affects the body and visa versa. In "Healing: An Individual Perspective" Barry Bittman, M.D. points out our tendency to ignore what is really bothering us. He urges us to better deal with the issues that stress us. Take time to stop and contemplate the way we really feel. Get in touch with our feelings. Ask ourselves whether it's the issue or our perspective that's causing us pain.     View more

    SPONSOR- TEECCINO HERBAL COFFEE

Wellness Inventory Kick the Caffeine Habit This Year - Destress with Teeccino Caffeine Free Herbal Coffee
Coffee drinkers may be surprised to learn that herbal coffee actually has nutritional benefits which help nourish and keep the body healthy. Coffee, on the other hand, only supplies the drug, caffeine, which stimulates your adrenal glands but does not provide energy - actually it could deplete the body's energy reserves. Teeccino, the first herbal coffee on the market, is a blend of herbs, grains, fruits and nuts that are roasted, ground and brewed just like coffee. Dark, rich, and full-bodied, Teeccino brings you all the satisfaction of a robust brew with no caffeine reaction. Teeccino tastes mildly sweet from dates and figs, with only 15 calories per cup.      View more.

    PROFESSIONAL'S CORNER

Incorporate a Wellness Dimension into Your Healthcare Practice
Wellness Inventory With health care reform emphasizing wellness and prevention, the focus of many healthcare practices in the near future will be to support people in creating wellness rather than treating disesase. For many professionals this will be a clear departure from the disease-focused practices with which they are familiar. A new breed of health professional will be practicing "wellness medicine" and utilizing wellness coaches (or be trained as coaches themselves) to encourage self-responsiblity for our own health and wellbeing, and to support us in mapping our own personal wellness solutions.

The Wellness Inventory, a pioneering assessment and life-balance program, offers professional licensing to health professionals, wellness professionals, therapists, social workers, wellness coaches, and life coaches. We also offer a Certification Training to certify professionals as Wellness Inventory Facilitators or Wellness Inventory Coaches.
